Marmaris – Turkey ~ Part Two

Day 4

So today was a bit odd, we booked Quad Bike safari, an activity that allows you to drive around woodlands on a track, splash through massive puddles and get really muddy. The plan was all of would be going, but the boys were still asleep and simply to chilled to want to go.

Soph and I went though… overall it was not the greatest experience. Do not let the pictures you see on the internet etc. fool you. The water does not exactly splash at you… instead they throw it at you! I think this was probably a great activity for younger individuals, but for me it just did not allow you to zoom off as I had expected to.

To cut a long story short, we came we went and came back again. Once we returned we got ready and went back to the coastal area where we went to do some additional shopping in the Bazaar and enjoy some local food before walking back to the hotel.

Day 5

After our eventful first few days we went our separate ways for the day. The boys went Go-Karting whilst Soph and I went off for an unforgettable and relaxing trip to Dalyan!

If you end up going to Marmaris, this trip is something you must do. The boat trip from the main harbour is kitted out with sun loungers as you go on your day cruise. You visit the Ancient Tombs integrated into the mountains, the Turtle Beach (we did actually manage to swim with a Sea Turtle too!) as well as enjoying a mud and thermal natural bath (although the smell was like rotten eggs to me – bleh!). This trip was so amazing I had to write an individual page on it so I hope you enjoy it. Here are some pics to get you started, but please do check out ‘The Dalyan Day Trip’ blog.

This was probably one of the best days ever and certainly one we will never forget! Upon our return to the harbour, our tour shuttle took us back to our hotel and we got ready to go out for the evening, venturing back to our spot by the coast we went to the night before.

Day 6

This was the day Soph was really looking forward to, it was the day we went Horse Riding amongst the woodland tracks. Our shuttle bus took us way into the mountains where we eventually met the activity area. Beautiful horses everywhere, we were all lined up and assigned our horses. I was fortunate to get a Horse whom had a foal follow us all the way around the tracks. Soph was in her element also, I could see she was really enjoying it.

We ploughed through the heat, the woods and ran our horses through various lakes and up and down hills. The experience overall was fantastic, peaceful and actually made us want to take it up back in the UK (which we did).  Pictures to follow shortly ~

Day 7

Oh dear, the last day! We had grown to love this place, as well as pretty much knowing every road, street and place in the region. It was only fitting that we hire the quad bikes again one more time for the day and go out in style.

The morning we went way up into the mountains, we reached amazing traditional villages, passed through areas that gave the most stunning views. We went off-road a couple of times so the boys could have a little dirt track action and road donuts!

The boys however wanted to get back to the hotel and chill with their new pals for a bit. We dropped them off while Soph and I went on one last adventure for the day.

We got to one of our favourite restaurants which has it’s own private beach (right over the other side of the bay), again this is mentioned as part of our Riding Quad Bikes around Marmaris post. The views were great, and it gave us some down time.

We got to one of our favourite restaurants which has it’s own private beach (right over the other side of the bay), again this is mentioned as part of our Riding Quad Bikes around Marmaris post. The views were great, and it gave us some down time and a chance to dip in the nice warm and clear sea for a bit.

We then took off back onto the road and went all the way around even further to the other side of the region. It brought us to Ikmeler beach, a lovely area all around to be honest, it leads up to further mountains and a port, whilst also providing you in the evening with a really quite getaway spot on the beach sun loungers and quiet dip in the sea. There are plenty of restaurants, shops and hotels in the area of course all around.

As the night drew in we called it a day and sadly headed back to drop off the bikes and walk back to our hotel one last time and gather up the troops in preparation of our airport transfer arriving.

All I will say is, Marmaris grabbed our minds and our hearts, we met some amazing and lovely people, we want to go back next year – they need more tourism! So I hope you get there sometime in the future, and by all means ask us any questions you may have – we have seen a lot of Marmaris after all!!

See you on our next adventure!!
